“Peace and harmony across the entire world forever, obviously. Everything else is just a series of stepping stones to reach that goal.”

Enabling Behaviour formed in 2021 and has been described as noisy goth rock, post-punk with a blend of shoegaze, industrial and psych rock all in one.

The band first formed when the members met at Falmouth University, but while the band has been going since 2021, the lineup has changed a few times.

While their influences have varied over the course of their time as a band, there are certain inspirations that have remained prevalent. Bands such as Sonic Youth, Bauhaus, Pixies, Fugazi, Manic Street Preachers, Placebo, Nine Inch Nails, Elliott Smith and the Wytches have all played a role in influencing the works of Enabling Behaviour:

“I had to stop the list there because there are so many, those are just the most directly obvious in terms of aesthetics and process.

“We also all like a lot of electronic stuff so that should be feeding into some tracks in the future.”

It’s about falling in love with the idea of someone.”

Released on the 27th of June, ‘Juliet in the Sun’ takes inspiration from the works of Jeff Buckley, specifically the heavier sounds of his live sets.

“It’s [Juliet in the Sun] about falling in love with the idea of someone, and Billy plays his bass in drop C# which sounds massive.”

“We played a squat once and the gig was shut down by police 2 songs in…”

When reminiscing on past performances, Enabling Behaviour’s Will stated, “Mostly the best gigs for me are the ones with the best crowds – the ones that talk to us and dance about when they’re enjoying themselves.”

He continued: “We played a squat once and the gig was shut down by police 2 songs in – which was lucky because my guitar was really going out of tune, so there’s every chance the early finish improved the quality of the show.”

“My personal aims are to be able to quit my day job and do this all the time. As a band, we have a lot of plans all the time.”

When asked about their future plans as a band, Wil made it clear that the band are showing no plans of stopping as they are working on their second album at the moment as well as having a number of upcoming live performances in the pipeline.

Enabling Behaviour will be performing the Settlement Stage at Green Man and are supporting the Warlocks at Clwb Ifor Bach on the 12th of August.
