As long as Uncertainty is a band we will continue to speak out about these issues.”

Formed in 2021, Hardcore punk band, Uncertainty, are a Bristol based group self-described as a ‘queer-tet’.

With influences ranging from The Rival Mob, Limp Wrist and Spy, Uncertainty also take inspiration from Merauder and Never Ending Game in terms of the delivery of their vocals.

Staying politically active is one of Uncertainty’s core values as a band. The group have been especially vocal about how they are fighting for LGBTQ+ rights and more recently how they are using their platform to shed light on the events taking place in Palestine.

“The idea that music shouldn’t be political is absolutely wild to me, if you even look back at bands like the Beatles they were being political in their prime.”

“Hardcore has always been a genre which pushes against authority and stands up for injustice. It will always be this and will continue to be this.”

When discussing the music scene in Bristol, Uncertainty refers to their experience within the scene as ‘overwhelmingly welcoming’.

“We know that Bristol has a huge queer community, but from when we first started as a band everyone has really been on board with what we stand for and what we represent.

“It is also amazing that there are so many bands who have queer members as well so we all share a common goal.”

In terms of future aims as a band, Uncertainty state that they have no specific aims, but would love to return to mainland Europe, as well as writing up their second EP, along with touring and hopefully playing some more festivals next year.
